If you love yarn, you should come to our shop in Broward County to visit. I know you’ll be inspired! We are much more than just knitting supplies. Did you know you don’t have to have any special skills to enjoy yarn crafting? Do you love yarn but find the crochet hook intimidating? Do you need to build up some confidence before making magic with the knitting needles? Do you love the look of weaving but don’t know your way around a loom yet?
Rest assured that you can definitely use yarn to craft things that are fun, useful, and decorative whether or not you already know how to knit, crochet, or weave. Today I’m sharing five fun, free ways to craft with yarn with no special skills needed!
Yay! I am excited to have something very special for you today!
I have hand-selected ten free crochet and knit patterns.
I found these patterns on Ravelry, and each is crafted in either DK or worsted weight yarn and can be made with between 150 and 300 yards of yarn. They are perfect stash busters or 1-2 skein projects. I love these projects for instant gratification. Making a perfect gift by hand doesn’t have to take a long time!
Aren’t they gorgeous?
Read on to find out more about these patterns and add them to your favorite and queue on Ravelry. If you decide to make one, please let Sheep Thrills know! It’s so exciting!
On the second day of our Socktacular September event, knitting expert Corrina Ferguson taught a class on how to make Evanthe, which is a beautiful, crescent shawl she designed exclusively for Sheep Thrills Yarn Shop in Broward County!
The pattern has gotten some great attention on Ravelry, so we know people are interested in making it! If you’d like to buy a kit so you can knit this shawl now, click here! For more details & tempting images, read on! Continue reading →
There is so much talent in Broward County and Sheep Thrills Yarn Shop embraces and celebrates your creativity! We are lucky to have a particularly talented crafter on our advisory board, yarn crafter Janice Krauser. Janice is accomplished in both crocheting and knitting. When the FEZA Viva Glitz Neckpiece became all the rage at Sheep Thrills, Janice stepped in and wrote a pattern for a crochet version as well.
Like the knitted neckpiece, the crocheted neckpiece is easy to wear, a beautiful addition to your wardrobe, and makes a great gift. Every time I wear my knitted version, I get compliments and I am excited to whip up my own crocheted version as well!
Although it was rainy in the late afternoon, nothing was going to keep this stitch fan from braving the Broward County weather and making my way to Sheep Thrills Yarn Shop! This was the event we were all so eagerly anticipating! As a fitting finale to our fun fiber festivities during Socktacular September, author, knitwear designer, and strong, independent businesswoman

We are counting the days until our in-store event with Corrina Ferguson. In case you are not already jumping up and down from excitement, let me tell you a bit more about knitting superstar Corrina Ferguson.
And that means it’s sock season at Sheep Thrills. In fact, we’re hosting a number of exciting events during our September Socktacular, including a visit from Corrina Ferguson, author of Warm Days, Cool Knits.
I am very excited to share with you a great pattern that has been really popular at Sheep Thrills Yarn Shop. Perfect for the heat of Broward County, this knitted neckpiece is easy enough for a beginner and only takes one ball of FEZA Viva Glitz.
Weaving is all the rage in Broward County because of Sheep Thrills Yarn Shop and our popular weaving classes. In fact, my crafting buddy has taken up weaving on the rigid heddle loom and she learned the craft during a class at Sheep Thrills. She absolutely loves it and it’s so exciting to see her finished objects. Personally, I love seeing how the yarns we use every day for knitting and crochet are combined differently to create an entirely different textile through weaving.
Since Sheep Thrills loves weaving classes and has so much to offer, I thought I would share five fantastic reasons to learn weaving.
